N.R.S. 293.2549 - Duties of Secretary of State and of county and city clerks

Overview of Statute

This section provides for the duties of the Secretary of State and county and city clerks.

Statute

1.  The Secretary of State, each county clerk and each city clerk shall:

(a) Make the Voters’ Bill of Rights readily available to the public;

(b) Maintain a copy of the Voters’ Bill of Rights in his or her office for reproduction and distribution to the public; and

(c) Ensure that the Voters’ Bill of Rights is posted in a conspicuous place, in at least 12-point type, at each polling place.

2.  The Secretary of State shall ensure that the Voters’ Bill of Rights is posted on the Secretary of State’s Internet website.

Definition [County clerk]

Except as the term is used in NRS 293.393, whenever the term “county clerk” is used in this title it means “registrar of voters” in those counties where such office has been created pursuant to the provisions of NRS 244.164.

Definition [Clerk]

The election board officer designated or assigned to make the record of the election in the roster, tally list and challenge list in the precinct, district or polling place in which such officer is appointed.

Definition [State]

A state of the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands or any territory or insular possession subject to the jurisdiction of the United States.
