N.R.S. 293.196 - Each office of justice of the Supreme Court constitutes separate office for nomination and election

Overview of Statute

This section requires separate offices for nomination and election of justices of the Supreme Court.

Statute

For purposes of elections only, the Secretary of State shall establish designations which separately identify each office of justice of the Supreme Court. Before any person is allowed to file a declaration of candidacy for the office of justice of the Supreme Court, the person shall designate the particular office for which he or she is declaring candidacy.

A state of the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands or any territory or insular possession subject to the jurisdiction of the United States.

Definition [Person]

1.  A natural person;

2.  Any form of business or social organization;

3.  Any nongovernmental legal entity, including, without limitation, a corporation, partnership, association, trust, unincorporated organization, labor union, committee for political action, political party and committee sponsored by a political party; or

4.  A government, governmental agency or political subdivision of a government.
