N.R.S. 293B.285 – Visibility and placement of mechanical recording devices

Overview of Statute

This section provides requirements for voting booths containing a mechanical recording devices.

Statute

The open part of the booth containing the mechanical recording device and every part of the polling place must be in plain view of the election officers and watchers. The booth must be placed at least 4 feet from the poll clerk’s table.

Definition [Mechanical recording device]

A device which mechanically or electronically compiles a total of the number of votes cast for each candidate and for or against each measure voted on.

Definition [Clerk]

The election board officer designated or assigned to make the record of the election in the roster, tally list and challenge list in the precinct, district or polling place in which such officer is appointed.
