N.R.S. 293B.150 – Tests required before first day of early voting 

Overview of Statute

This section sets forth which devices, equipment, and programs must be tested and when.

Statute

Not earlier than 2 weeks before and not later than 5 p.m. on the day before the first day of early voting, the county or city clerk shall test:

      1.  The mechanical recording device which directly records votes electronically, if any; or

      2.  The automatic tabulating equipment and programs, if any,

to ascertain that the device or equipment and programs will correctly count the votes cast for all offices and on all measures.

Definition [Mechanical recording device]

A device which mechanically or electronically compiles a total of the number of votes cast for each candidate and for or against each measure voted on.

Definition [Clerk]

The election board officer designated or assigned to make the record of the election in the roster, tally list and challenge list in the precinct, district or polling place in which such officer is appointed.
