N.R.S. 293.563 - Preparation and delivery of roster to polling place

Overview of Statute

This section provides for the preparation and delivery of roster to a polling place.

Statute

1. During the interval between the closing of registration and the election, the county clerk shall prepare for:

(a) Each polling place:

(1) A roster containing the registered voters eligible to vote at the polling place; and

(2) A roster designated for electors who apply to register to vote or apply to vote at the polling place pursuant to NRS 293.5772 to 293.5887, inclusive; and

(b) Each polling place established pursuant to NRS 293.3072 or 293.3032 a roster containing the registered voters eligible to vote in the county or city, respectively.

2. The rosters must be delivered or caused to be delivered by the county or city clerk to an election board officer of the proper polling place before the opening of the polls.

Definition [County clerk]

Except as the term is used in NRS 293.393, whenever the term “county clerk” is used in this title it means “registrar of voters” in those counties where such office has been created pursuant to the provisions of NRS 244.164.

Definition [Election board]

The persons appointed by each county or city clerk to assist in the conduct of an election.

Definition [Registered voter]

An elector who has completed the procedure prescribed by law for registration as a voter.

A person appointed to assist in the conduct of an election.

Definition [Clerk]

The election board officer designated or assigned to make the record of the election in the roster, tally list and challenge list in the precinct, district or polling place in which such officer is appointed.

Definition [Board]

As used in NRS 295.075 to 295.125, inclusive, unless the context otherwise requires, “board” means the board of county commissioners.

Definition [Roster]

The record in printed or electronic form furnished to election board officers which contains a list of eligible voters and is to be used for obtaining the signature of each person applying for a ballot.

Definition [Elector]

A person who is eligible to vote under the provisions of Section 1 of Article 2 of the Constitution of the State of Nevada.
